Sally Pemberton

Accelerate Tutoring is run by Sally Pemberton, a teacher and tutor with over 35 years of vast teaching experience both in the state and private sectors.

The schools she has taught in include a primary school, which ranks as one of the top 50 in the country. Here her mission was to prepare pupils for the very competitive 11+ exam / independent school entrance exam (statistically only 1 in every 8  are fortunate to get a place). For 2 years we managed to get every pupil into their chosen school. In this school she was the lead teacher for English.

State and Private

Sally has  taught at leading Independent schools in both Birmingham and Chester and these include  The Queens School, Firs and Abbeygate.
In the state system she has taught every year group, taken top sets for Mathematics. and been involved with leading booster sessions for pupils preparing for SATS. As part of her professional development Sally did courses called, ‘Enhancing pupils progress in Mathematics’ and stimulating children’s ability to write with Pie Corbett.

Ages and Abilities

Over the years, she has tutored many children of various ages and abilities. Every pupil is treated as unique and special and their needs are carefully assessed through a detailed discussion with parents. Pupils tutored include those who come for support, those who come to be challenged, those who wish to feel more able and confident with their SATS and those who wish to gain a place at a grammar school or a top independent school.

11+ School

In the summer of 2017, Sally pioneered an 11+ School, where children could come do timed papers and receive specific guidance on their strengths and weaknesses.

Privilege

It is such a wonderful privilege, to witness the smile on a child’s face, as they share their news that they have moved up a table in Mathematics/English, become pupil of the week for the subject they have been tutored in, won a grammar school place or a place at their chosen independent school. Children have gained scholarships, developed confidence in their tutored subject which invariably spreads to other areas of the curriculum and happy memories as they learn to master challenges and excel.

Tailored Lessons

We deliver fun lessons that are specifically tailored to the needs and learning styles of each individual.

Lessons can be weekly or fortnightly and can last for 1 hour, 1½ hours or 2 hours. Booster sessions for the school holidays are also offered.

Key Stage 1 and 2 Maths or English: £60 per hour

Key Stage 3 Maths: £60 per hour

7+ or 11+ exam: £60 per hour

Independent school exam prep: £60 per hour

Mini schools / school holidays / other: prices available on request
